Community Involvement

We know the happiest, most productive and valuable employees believe in giving back and making a difference in the world around them. That’s why our company prioritizes corporate social responsibility and creating ways for our employees to contribute to causes that they care about.

For more than 127 years, our core values of safety, integrity, creativity, responsiveness, teamwork, respect, and initiative provide the foundation for how we conduct ourselves in the communities where we live and work.

We believe in building strong, resilient, and sustainable communities.

Coming together for the greater good promotes positive change and we are proud to invest our time and energy in our communities. Part of being a good neighbor is supporting communities through local giving. Through our subsidiary offices, we volunteer our time and contribute funds to support meaningful charitable causes that protect, preserve, and enhance our society.

Mission Trips to Kenya:
One of L.E. Myers’ employees served on a mission trip in Kenya in July 2017. The church she belongs to supports a couple who moved from Decatur to Kenya about 15 years ago to become missionaries. For the last 10 years, the church has been sending small groups to Kenya to assist with construction projects or to provide medical care to the Maasai people. In 2017, a group of medical professionals visited the country to set up a week-long free clinic in Kenya’s Kajiado County.  The clinic served over 600 patients in the short time we were there.

Holiday Toy Drives:
Each year Dove, Inc. and Northeast Community Fund come together to provide Christmas baskets for approximately 400 families in need.  This effort requires hundreds of hours by staff and volunteers. It also benefits clients of 25+ organizations in the Decatur and surrounding area. Each family receives a complete food basket (including a turkey), a present and filled stocking for each child based on age and gender, hats and gloves for each family member, a bag of hygiene supplies, wrapping paper and tape so parents can wrap their children’s gifts, and a gift for each adult, if available. This drive operates solely on donations, whether monetary or by collecting items that can be used in the baskets. Volunteers also deliver more than half of the baskets to the recipient’s homes just in time for Christmas.
